״את הסיפור הזה התחלתי לדמיין אחרי שעברתי מלב תל אביב לשוליים השקטים של העיר. המעבר ממרכז העיר התוסס הותיר בי חלל שקט. כשסיירתי בשכונה החדשה שלי חיפשתי תחליף לים, לבתי הבאוהאוס ולבתי הקפה הקטנים – משהו ייחודי, משהו שיוכל לספר סיפור ולאפשר לעיניים שלי לטייל כמו פעם, מול המראות המוכרים של לב העיר.
ואז מצאתי: הדודים – מחממי המים. כל אחד מהם שונה בדרכו הקטנה. דמיינתי את העולם הפרטי שלהם, ודרך השפה העל-זמנית של הדפסי האוקיו-אה היפניים – אני מבקש לחלוק את העולם הזה אתכם.״

I started imagining this story after moving from the heart of Tel Aviv to its quiet edges. Leaving the city center left a quiet space inside me. As I walked through my new neighborhood, I missed the beach, the Bauhaus buildings, and the tiny cafes, and searched for something unique – that could tell a story and allow my eyes to wander the way the grand sights of the city center once did.

One day, I found it: the Doodim – the water heaters. Each one is unique in its own little way. I imagined their private world, and through the timeless language of Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints, I can finally share that world with you.

Yuktsarim is the rebellious offspring of Yuka Books Publishing, releasing Hebrew-language, full-color paper comic booklets—just like in the good old days. Each booklet features a single, exclusive story by a highly talented creator.
